Self-Guided Hikes
Please note – while there are several parking areas scattered around the Refuge, only a few can accommodate buses.
- Planning Your Self-Guided Visit
- Review the trail map to determine an appropriate hike for your group.
- Review Bus Drivers Instructions to determine an appropriate parking for your group’s needs.
- Prior to the Day of your Visit
- Inform your group participants of the following helpful hints:
- For safety, strongly encourage the wearing of long pants and closed toed shoes.
- Bug spray and sunscreen recommended.
- Each participant should carry water.
- All forms of payment are accepted.
- Carpooling is strongly advised due to limited parking spaces.
- Picnic facilities are available. If you are having lunch, please bring garbage
bag(s) to dispose of waste. Please take with you or dispose at the Hardwicke Interpretive Center.

- This is where you will pay your General Admission Fee and receive your map.
- The Gate Attendant will gladly answer any questions you may have.
- Proceed to your desired parking lot and have fun!

Scheduling: Not required, but for the benefit of groups of twenty or more we would appreciate notification of your self-guided tour.

- $6 Adults (13-64)
- $3 Seniors (65+)
- $2 Children (3-12)
- Under 3 are Free
Payment: The gatehouse accepts cash, check and all major credit cards.
