Bison Feeding Hayrides
Participants will enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the Refuge riding in an open air hayride trailer. Naturalists will identify the unique natural habitats found at the Nature Center and explain the work that staff do to preserve these ecosystems. Historical structures, plants, and animals may all be observed from the hayride. The highlight of the experience is a stop at the bison pasture to throw range cubes to our resident bison herd. The conservation of the species as well as the role of our specific herd are discussed while participants observe the social interactions and adaptations of the bison up close. Note: For the safety of participants and animals, physical contact with the bison is not permitted. A 12 passenger bus can be substituted for the hayride for those with mobility restrictions or in very extreme weather.
